Photo du Jour: Point St Charles Old Building

In the corner of St Patrick, there is this very old and grungy looking building. The contrast of its brick and old paint chipping away, makes it very attractive for photos. Not all Montreal neighbourhoods look pretty and perfect, and buildings like these ones makes a nice shot for those “before and after” photo collections.

Image du Jour: Street Art – Berri and Cherrier

Although still unfinished, this mural looks better ad better every time I see it. The artist works on a 3D effect rendering. The windows and stairs look as if they are coming out of the building. Can’t wait to see the finished product. Look for it at the corner of Berri and Rue Cherrier, in the Plateau.

Working Up High

Photo: Deya Bautista

Just before placing the glass windows/walls at the CHUM hospital. The workers are measuring to cut the exact pieces. If you notice, they have only a rope type harness to protect them from falling. Impressive. You couldn’t pay me enough to get close to that ledge, at the heigh they are at (approx. 4th or 5th floor)

Driving though the south west of Montreal can be quite an adventure nowadays. You have to share the road with all sorts of construction vehicles, just as this one. The problem is not the sharing part. It is the waiting part. They drive about 20 km/hr. If you’re in a rush, getting stuck behind one of these…can drive you bananas. I took the creative initiative and snapped a shot. With my camera, of course :)

Image du Jour: Wall Art – Duluth and de Bullion

Plateau has great street art decorating its buildings. Back in April 2008, we published a picture from Rue Duluth and their numerous graffiti walls.

This picture is the latest find in street art in the area. I am sure there are others just waiting to be discovered.

Image du jour: Montreal Olympic Pool

This is what the Olympic pool inside the Olympic Stadium looked like two years ago. It is still impressive, even though the rest of the building needs a little tlc. There were students practicing that afternoon. I took this shot once the coast was clear.

Image du Jour: White Plateau

If you live in Montreal you most likely woke up today and realized that winter is definitely here. The is doubt about that. If you are not in Montreal, then you missed waking up to a beautiful snow-covered city. Yesterday we had our first big snow fall. Well, not so big. But enough to make this park look like this…

I was walking driving all over town yesterday. I managed to take some wintery pictures
It looked like the Montreal I remembered when I first arrived here. Snowy streets by November. Slippery sidewalks. Happy winter everyone!
